Studio 54 was one of the world’s most prestigious night spots that set the standard for New York and the rest of the world. Don’t fear the future. These are Powers have come to conjure the new musical golden age you’ve been waiting for–one of insistence, intensity, and light. And yes, you can dance to it. These Are Powers is an experimental music group from Brooklyn, New York and Chicago, Illinois. The band mixes polyrhythm with samples and other electronic sounds and noise rock. n0 things, ex-LIARS bass player, Pat Noecker formed These Are Powers with Anna Barie (vocals/guitar) (ex Knife Skills & Fxxxing Lion) and Ted McGrath (drums) in 2006. The latter was replaced by electroacustic drummer/percussionist Bill Salas. Ferocious and unhinged, when These Are Powers perform live, it is a kind of spiritual journey, a futuristic fire dance hailing from Chicago and Brooklyn. The bass smolders, topping its low-end sub-rumble with a high-end flutter; abstract beats emanate from the electro-acoustic stand-up drum kit. And piercing through is Anna Barie’s guitar while she and Noecker call and respond. Barie blasts through a litany of expressive guitar sounds and full-throated yelps and howls with a confrontational, explosive energy that often finds her entangled with audience members, leaping through the air, or sprawled on the floor in front of the stage.

THREAD PULLS

Thread Pulls are an experimental two-piece with the drumbeat at their core. Thread Pulls became the first Irish band to be invited to play at the celebrated All Tomorrow’s Parties festival. After releasing four EPs on 9-pt records as a three piece, they stripped down to the duo of Gavin Duffy and Peter Maybury, and spent the following two years developing their upbeat progressive sound which meshes trumpet, electronics and treated vocals with a no-wave inspired mix of repetitive bass and drums. Thread Pulls are now recording their début album.

Peter also makes electronic music as Hardsleeper and in Rainfear. Gavin plays occasionally with Karl Him and Electronic Sensoria Band.

GREY MAYHEM

Grey Mayhem (feat. Members of Puget Sound, Hands up who wants to die, Guilty optics etc.) are a band from Dublin. Formed in mid 2009 they play a mixture of heavy, synthy, post hardcore. With influences such as Trans am, Oneida, The Melvins, the Jesus Lizard, Polvo, High on Fire etc, they combine moments of technical complexity with pulsating synth jams and straight up heft . They have recently recorded an e.p. with Lar Kaye (Adebisi Shank), which will be self released in coming weeks. Grey mayhem are Paul Clynes, Ruadhan O’Meara, and Ror Conaty.

Get in line – WAR is back, Back, BACK. After a much deserved break from destroying dancefloors over the past twelve months, we decided it was time to take aim and charge out of our sex filled trenches (and that’s just Sarah – guzzler).

With a new HQ in the shape of Andrews Lane Theatre, we’ve set out to recreate what made WAR so super special and that’s:

WAR DJ’s were got in to play at the UCD Summer Sessions and took a wee break. WAR got bored. . WAR found a new Battlefield. WAR got to building podiums and clouds. WAR is back.

We’re back! – Having successfully launched our opening night with Studio 54 in early June, we’re delighted to announce that we’re back for another spectacular night!

On Saturday, July 3rd, Stereo Vibe is pleased to announce our second themed event which will once again be located at Andrew’s Lane Theatre in Dublin 2. Titled “Poseidon”, a truly magnificent night is being planned that will submerge you into an underworld of legend and myth complete with an earth shaking sound system like the God himself.

Join our renowned DJ’s and entertainers on July 3rd and experience a unique atmosphere like no other.

As God of the Sea, Poseidon will be themed around the colour blue, the underworld awaits..

Uto Karem is currently making a real name for himself. His productions have found him fans that include the likes of Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Layo & Bushwacka, Ricardo Villalobos and many more.

Having spent his junior years in London, Uto’s music ear was first shaken by bands such as New Order, Depeche Mode and Soft Cell. On his return to Italy at the age of 15, it was Underground Resistance, Novamute and Plus 8 that were having most impact on the young man.

In his late teens his DJ career took off, and over the years he has supported many of the worlds greatest deck talents. As with most of today’s artists, the natural progression was to produce and after two years of study, he graduated in Audio Engineering.

At the end of 2007 he created “agile recordings” a new label born to promote & support quality music. The first release in collaboration with Rino Cerrone, has become a top seller, being sold out in less than one month.

His 2008 release ‘Nove’ has been licensed to Chris Liebing’s Spinclub Ibiza compilation.

His debut release for Dubfire’s SCI+TEC Digital label, has made a big impact on the market and has being charted by the likes of Monika Kruse, Dirt Crew, Barem and many more. It has also being licensed for the next Timewarp 2009 Compilation mixed by Marco Carola.

His 2009 remix for Spektre “Cheyenne” on Blufin Records has become N.1 on beatport’s top 100 overall charts, soon after he signed a remix for John Aquaviva’s label Definitive Records, with the rmx for Sound diffusion “Girls like hihats” he has established his style with more funky elements.
